Lantern Review of Camp Birch Hill

Should summer be a time to cut loose? A time to experience those things you can’t always make time for during the school year? Shouldn’t it be fun? Camp Birch Hill thinks so, and they’re eager to show just how fun the summer can be.

The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is a lovely setting for any camp. Birch Hill is relatively young in the camping fraternity, but it’s made a splash by offering a broad range of activities, quality instruction and a dedicated and experienced leadership team, owners and directors the Morell family. The staff at Birch Hill are challenged to connect with each of their campers, keeping an eye to clues which will help them create a closer bond with each of them. Their empathy creates a warm atmosphere in the cabins. Once feeling at home, the campers are caught up in the enthusiasm for the camp program. Yes, skill instruction is important, and they do a fine job here, but the Birch Hill experience is one that values joy.

Birch Hill is a scenic, wooded camp with tree-lined paths leading to the clear, blue lake. The camper cabins ring the sports fields and courts. While the boys and girls cabins are separated, the cheerful coed experience is certainly an important part of Birch Hill. In the dining hall, for instance, the boys and girls may sit together at lunch, building the larger camp community feel. The mix creates an animated atmosphere for much of the day.

The Morell family has made something special during the last couple of decades. Their talent and experience in education and program has an outlet each summer at this fun northern escape.

Director's Message

Many of our campers say Birch Hill is their 'home way from home', and we couldn't be happier. Our fully elective program offers campers the chance to discover exciting activities and build self esteem, but the biggest take-away is lifelong friendships. Yahoo!
