What Information Do We Collect About You?
The information we collect about you falls into two categories: (1) Personal Information, which includes personal information you supply when you register for the Site or provide your e-mail address to sign up for features such as newsletters or specials and (2) Non-Personal Information collected through technology, which includes tracking information automatically collected as you use the Site.
Personal Information (the “Personal Information”) is any information that identifies a User personally, either alone or in combination with other information available to us. Personal Information may therefore include, but is not limited to (a) a User’s name, email address, date of birth, and /or account password; (b) a User’s City, State, and Country; and (c) any content a User posts to a Lantern Camps website or other product, as defined in the Lantern Camps Terms of Service.
A number of features on our Site, including, but not limited to our Advanced Camp Search, do not require you to register for an account or provide any Personal Information to us. Put simply, if you use these features, you do not have to provide us with any Personal Information. However, to gain access to and use all of our features, you may be required to provide Personal Information. For instance, when you sign up for a Lantern Camps Account (the “Account”) or other Lantern Camps Features (e.g., a subscription to a newsletter) that require registration, we ask you to submit select Personal Information.
When you send an email or other communication to Lantern Camps, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiry, respond to your request, and improve the Site.
When a User uses the Site or Mobile Application, Lantern Camps may receive certain personally non-identifiable information about the User’s use of the Site or Mobile Application (“Non-Personal Information”). Such information, which may be collected passively using various technologies, cannot presently be used to specifically identify the User. Lantern Camps may store such information ourselves or it may be included in databases owned and maintained by our affiliates, agents or service providers. Lantern Camps may use such information and pool it with other information to track, for example, the total number of visitors to the Site, the number of visitors to each page of the Site, and the domain names of our visitors’ Internet service providers. No Personal Information is available or used in this process.
When you access our Site or Mobile Application, our servers automatically record information from your web browser and/or mobile device. The information contained within these server logs may include, but is not limited to, information such as your web requests, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request, referring/exit pages and URLs, platform type, number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed and the order of those pages, cookies that may uniquely identify your browser, and elements employed in the Mobile Applications.
Lantern Camps may present links in a format that enables us to keep track of whether these links have been followed. We use this information to improve the quality of our search technology, customized content, and advertising.
How Do We Use the Information That We Collect?
General Statement on the Use of Personal and Non-Personal Information
Lantern Camps does not use a User’s Personal Information to send commercial or marketing SMS messages or email messages to a User without a User’s express consent, or unless a User has previously opted in to receive such messages. If you wish to opt-out of receiving promotional emails, please contact us. Please be aware that you will always receive certain emails from us related to the proper functioning of your registered Lantern Camps Account.
To better serve Users and improve the Site, Lantern Camps may conduct research on User demographics, interests and behavior based on the Personal Information and Non-Personal Information provided to Lantern Camps. This research may be compiled and analyzed on an aggregate basis, and we may share this aggregated information with our affiliates, agents and business partners. This aggregate information does not identify a User personally. Lantern Camps may also disclose aggregated information in order to describe our services to current and prospective business partners and to other third parties for other lawful purposes.
Sharing of Personal Information
Because your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, there are very few and limited instances in which we may share your Personal Information.
First, we may share your Personal Information if you consent to us doing so. We require opt-in consent for the sharing of any sensitive Personal Information.
Second, we are permitted under law to disclose nonpublic Personal Information about you to other third parties in certain circumstances. For example, we may disclose nonpublic Personal Information about you to government entities in response to subpoenas. We do not disclose any nonpublic Personal Information about our Users or former Users to anyone, except as permitted by law.
Third, we may share your Personal Information with service providers or suppliers that help with our business operations. Companies that help us improve our product and service offerings on our Site, data storage companies, and web hosting companies are a few examples of service providers with which we may share your Personal Information. Please know that we require these service providers and suppliers to keep the information secure. We also prohibit them from using your Personal Information for any purposes other than those requested by us.
Please note that we may share aggregate and statistical data that does not identify you personally. This sharing of information may be done for research and marketing purposes or for other lawful purposes.
Business Transfers and Sharing of Personal Information
The following general provisions are also adopted as a part of this Policy.
Lantern Camps may processes Personal Information and/or Non-Personal Information on our servers in the United States of America or in other countries. In some cases, we may process Personal Information and/or Non-Personal Information on a server outside of a given User’s country.
Lantern Camps takes appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of the Personal Information transmitted or disclosed to Lantern Camps. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where User data is collected, stored, and/or maintained. No Internet or e-mail transmission, however, is ever fully secure or error free. Lantern Camps therefore cannot warrant or ensure the security of any Personal Information that we receive on behalf of Users in order to permit them to access the Site, or any other information that a User transmits or discloses to us. We also cannot guarantee that any such information will not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards. Therefore, a User should take special care in deciding what information is transmitted or disclosed to Lantern Camps. We restrict access to Personal Information to Lantern Camps employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop, or improve the Site. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.
When a User logs in to www.lanterncamps.com, we may require that a secure connection between a User’s computer and our server be established. To accomplish this, we use a technology called Secure Socket Layers (SSL), an encryption technology that works with most browsers. A secure connection is maintained until a User leaves the secure area of the Site. Although we use SSL encryption to safeguard the confidentiality of Personal Information as it travels via the Internet, ironclad security does not exist on the Internet, and accordingly, we cannot guarantee the safety of the transmission of any Personal Information over the Internet.
Lantern Camps processes User Personal Information only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this Policy or any applicable service-specific privacy notice. We review our data collection, storage, and processing practices to ensure that we only collect, store and process the Personal Information needed to provide or improve the Site. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the Personal Information we process is accurate, complete, and current, but we depend on our Users to update or correct their Personal Information whenever necessary.
Accessing and Updating Personal Information
When a User accesses the Site, we make good faith efforts to provide that User with easy access to his or her Personal Information and an opportunity to either correct that data if it is inaccurate, or to delete such data upon that particular User’s request, provided that it is not otherwise required to be retained by law, or for legitimate business purposes. We do, however, ask Users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected, or removed before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup tapes), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort.

If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child under the age of 13 has obtained a Lantern Camps Account or has otherwise provided Personal Information to us, then you may contact us, and request that we delete that child’s Personal Information from our systems.
